Peace on Earth

In the heart of every man and woman is the desire for a world without pain.  Not finding it, people may grow angry, rightfully believing they were made for better things, wrongfully turning away from the only One who can bring them into what their heart truly longs for - peace.  Peace is not just absence of strife, but a deep sense of wellness, the security of knowing that one is loved with a  perfect, unconditional and eternal love, the kind of love that overcomes the internal striving of the heart and enables one to remain at peace even in the midst of external strife.  This is shalom - God's peace, given to those who do not turn away.

The Christian Bible  promises that God rewards those that seek Him.  (Hebrews 11:6)  Will you be one of those who turn away, or one who seeks Him and finds His peace?  Jesus himself said the world was full of trouble, but He made us a wonderful promise:

"Peace I leave with you;My peace I give to you; not as the world gives, do I give to you.  Let not your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful."    John 14:27

This word was given to me on Passover, 9th April, 2009

"Honour Me, honour Me in all you do.  There is a wind about to blow – a wind of change, a fresh wind, and many situations that you thought would never change, will be changed.

For it’s like when the Israelites were in Egypt, slaves for 400 years.  It was when they cried out to Me, when they were desperate to leave, ready to embrace change, to venture into the unknown, that I delivered them, and suddenly they were free.

So do not grow weary in well-doing and give up on the things I have promised, but just cry out to Me for their fulfillment, and I will hear from heaven and deliver you from the things that hold you back.  So do not be exasperated as Moses was and lose the promise, but just honour Me by looking to Me, not giving the devil credence –and I will deliver you into the promise.

All through the scriptures when people cried out to Me, I answered them – Isaac in a famine, the Israelites in the wilderness, the widow who had no provision, David in the cave of Adullam, the sick and demon-possessed – whatever their need I satisfied it.

So ask Me for all you need and watch Me deliver.  For I love to show myself strong.  In your weakness, when you cannot do it, that’s when I show myself strong, that’s when I provide, protect, heal and deliver.  That’s when I reveal myself as God.

Today is Passover-a remembrance of my deliverance –something to celebrate.  As Israel celebrates my deliverance, it is a sign also to the rest of the world that I am God."

An End of Death as the End!

At Passover nearly two thousand years ago Jesus was lifted up by man on the cross to shame and death.  Three days later he was later he was lifted up by God to eternal honour and life.

Satan thought that if he killed Jesus, it would be the end of him, but Jesus knew the principle of the seed, dying into the ground, knew that His Father would raise him up to life and that he would see the harvest of billions of souls.

Death was no longer an end – except for those who choose it.  Now there is a choice.  After the resurrection of Jesus, “the way, the truth and the life”, life has become an eternal state, and death merely a transition from earth to heaven.  Satan wanted to make an end of Jesus, but Jesus made an end of death!  What a glorious victory!

“Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!”

What on Earth Are you Doing?

When Jesus began his earthly ministry, he went to Galilee preaching the Message of God.  This was what you might call his ‘life’ message, the message he had come from heaven to earth to declare.  So what was this earth-shattering, all-encompassing, life-changing declaration from heaven?  Was it “believe in me and you’ll go to heaven when you die?”  No!  Far more than that!  Jesus preached, “Repent! For the Kingdom of God is at hand!  Or as The Message puts it, “Time’s up!  God’s kingdom is here.  Change your life and believe the Message!”

Jesus came preaching the Good News of the kingdom of God –the Good News that he was bringing heaven’s rule and reign to earth.  This message was not just for eternity, but to restore to the earth realm the former glory of Eden.

Jesus called his team and taught them to pray to the Father, “Let your kingdom come!  Let your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.”  He spent the next three years demonstrating the will of heaven - healing the sick, casting our demons, showing mercy and teaching about the love and provision of God.  He brought both the word and power of God to bear on earth and changed the things that did not line up with the way things are in heaven.

After three years of demonstration and training, he instructed his followers to do the same.  They did.  They “turned Jerusalem upside down” and then began the process of taking this same message of hope to the rest of the world.

This process is not yet complete.  The gospel of the kingdom is yet to be preached with signs and wonders following to many who have not yet heard it.  Our challenge as modern day disciples is this: are we sitting around leading a comfortable life, waiting to go to heaven when we die, or are we believing and acting on the real message?  Are we enforcing the rule and reign of heaven by healing the sick, casting out demons and providing for the poor?

One day the king of heaven will return in all his glory and the church age will be at an end.  Until then let’s walk the walk as well as talk the talk!  Let’s “make the manifold wisdom of God known” and bring change to the earth realm –the same change that Jesus brought when he walked here.
